What this tool does
This calculator works out the minimum wage your apprenticeship must legally pay you, based on your age and how long you have been training, and tells you what you should earn once the apprentice rate no longer applies.
It uses the current National Minimum Wage rates and is a guide, not a payslip.
When to use it
Use it when you are starting an apprenticeship and want to know what you should be paid, when you want to check your current pay is legal, or when you are about to pass your first year or turn 19 and your rate should change.
How it works
You enter your age, how long you have been an apprentice and your weekly hours. It works out which minimum rate applies to you and gives you a minimum hourly, weekly and rough annual figure. Nothing you enter is saved, and you do not need to give your name or email to use it. The rates change every April and many employers pay more than the minimum, so treat the result as the legal floor rather than a target.
